I had an idea. I should milk paint a large world map!
(excuse the messy kitchen and dark lighting, it was late – this is real life sorry)
Good idea right? I had all the supplies at home, the weird thing was it was 11 pm on a Friday night ha ha.
It’s how I roll.
I’m telling you guys, this is a quick and easy project. Start to finish in 20 mins.
What you need to paint a world map
Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint – I used Curio, but you can use any colour
World Map Stencil – available online here or in our Moncton store
FAT Paint – I used the colour Parchment
Brush – I love Cling On Brushes
Stencil Brush – I use these ones
Wood pallet – build your own or you can use plywood
(this bottle has been around my house for awhile….just keeping it real)
Easy How To
Mix 2 parts water to 1 part Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint
Brush paint on pallet, wipe back as desired with paper towel
Place stencil on board
Using your stencil brush, dip into the paint, then WIPE off all paint on a piece of paper towel. Your brush should be almost dry. Pounce or swirl paint to stencil.
Once paint is dry, sand and distress as desired, then top coat with MMS Hemp Oil
See, easy peasy. MMS Milk Paint dries super fast, especially when used as a stain.
I literally did this in 20 mins, no kidding, from thought to finish.
If you don’t have a World Map stencil, you could do one using an easy trace method like here.
Sorry about the dark photos, it was 11 pm. Paint nerds paint on Friday nights. Ha Ha.
I’m keeping this one for me, but may bring a few to the shop to sell soon if you are not into making your own.
Thanks for popping in and following along. Are you following us on Instagram? I share lots of during and behind the scenes stuff. There is a video on IG of how I stain the board. Have a peek. Love for you to follow along. You can find me HERE on Instagram.
Have a super duper week friends,
** update – we have sold out of the World Map stencils, but more are on the way.
