I’m very excited to finally tell you we are
We have been very busy working on plans to open our little workshop!
Painting, cleaning, sorting, planning – it’s been a bit of a whirlwind time!
WHERE WILL THE SHOP BE LOCATED?
We are only about 5 minutes from the Gunningsville Bridge and it is a lovely country setting.
Willow Yoga is run by my longtime (I won’t say old) friend Jo-Ann, and I could not be happier or more grateful to her and her family for allowing me be part of and share this special place.
Yoga and painting – I think they kinda belong together don’t you?
Mind, body, spirit and creativity
The “Shop” will be located in her Dad’s former retail location, where, as Brine’s Upholstery, he lovingly restored, re-loved and created beautiful furniture for so many people.
I feel blessed to be able to be in such a great location with such great karma all around
But we do have a lot of work to do to get ready!
Hubs working on the first step of the reno (see what I did there?) :)
WHEN WILL WE BE OPEN?
We are hoping to open by mid November and our first Miss Mustard Seed Paint workshop will be the last weekend in November – plans are still in the works for that!
WATCH FOR DETAILS!
I’ve been a little overwhelmed by the support I have received. Friends, family, my wonderful new landlord – everyone has been helping with the renos and supporting me.
I’ve also been so inspired and supported by friends I have met through social media and through this little blog – THANK YOU ALL!
I have already received inquiries from people looking for me to ship them paint when it comes in, and already have a waiting list (I know RIGHT?) for custom painted furniture!
AMAZING I tell ya! I am lifted every day by your support and encouragement!
WHAT WILL WE DO AND HAVE IN THE SHOP?
We will be selling Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint and supplies for custom painted furniture and decor
There will be fun and informative workshops monthly so you can have a hands on experience working with paints
(We plan to eventually have other fun DIY project workshops and various teachers as well down the road)
It is SO much fun – NO experience required, you may surprise yourself! I did!
I will also be selling unique one of a kind furniture and decor items that I will be painting in the shop to sell
We will be doing custom painted furniture jobs as well, if you have a piece you’ve always wanted to paint but have no time, we can do it for you
We also have plans to eventually showcase other talented furniture painters and craftsmen in the shop on consignment
(If you are, or know of anyone that may be looking for a retail space to sell their wares, please have them contact me, I’d love to chat with them to see if we have a nice fit)
Front Porch Mercantile will be a very casual workshop, where I hope you can drop in, get inspired to pick up a paint brush, or maybe buy yourself a unique piece of furniture unlike anyone else will have.
We plan to start slow and see where this adventure takes us – so happy you are along for the ride!
Will keep you updated on the opening date, until then, thank you so much for following along, your support means the world to me!
(oh…and if you happen to have any lovely pieces of wood furniture, frames, or unique pieces you are looking to banish from the garage or attic – please keep me in mind)
And NO – I will not paint over beautiful wood…I may revive it with a good oiling or cleaning but no painting…just the out dated or damaged stuff. I promise Mom!
Thanks for checking in! Will post some inside shots and updates as they happen and maybe I will get some time to actually paint some more furniture for the shop :)
