Bonding Agent

MMS’s milk paint bonding agent allows milk paint to adhere to non porous surfaces like metal or glass and painted, varnished or lacquered surfaces. If you are looking for a flawless finish, this will be your new best friend. MMS bonding agent is a water-based concentrated acrylic emulsion & if you have any doubts about whether or not the milk paint will adhere to the surface, use bonding agent.

To use with milk paint: simply mix your paint as you normally would. Once you have done this and are happy with your mix, add an equal part of bonding agent to your paint – ie: 1 tbsp paint, 1 tbsp water, 1 tbsp bonding agent. Paint as you normally would. Leave your piece for approx. 2 hrs before you do your next coat of paint allowing the bonding agent to work its magic and bond to the piece. If you paint over it too soon it could reactivate the milk paint and cause it to chip and peel. Nothing some sandpaper can’t fix but it is way more time consuming and as we like to say ~ “It’s better to do the right thing slowly than the wrong thing quickly”.
After you have waited the 2 hours allowing the bonding agent/milk paint mix to fully cure, add your second coat {milk paint, water & bonding agent}.
Shake well before use.
